How line energy enters tickets and MES

Power, gas and heat rise must be placed by line. Over-threshold enters a maintenance ticket. Shift usage enters MES. Copying meters and decorative curves are not production access.

The main meter sits in the switch room, the board sits in a meeting room, and MES tickets still get handwritten downtime reasons—three skins of a typical energy project. To enter production, sensors must land where a ticket and a shift can match: which line, which critical machine, which process—not one plant number.

Match “this shift used how much, stopped how long” before you add fancy meters

Phase one rarely needs high-end analytics on every motor. Hook incoming kWh, stop signals and one or two heat points on the critical line into tickets and the shift report, and copying can stop. You can name protocol and meter brand, but they must emit events: If the device protocol is closed, can we still integrate. A closed energy box that cannot emit shift data never joined production: Closed box vs. open access.

Air and steam are often less visible than electric. One header meter, and a leak waits until someone hears it. Branch flow plus a leak trend gives maintenance a ticket; align shift use to output before process will own unit cost. Name points by line station, not factory serial—if MES tickets and energy curves cannot match IDs, you never connected.

A wrong CT ratio systematically skews every unit cost

A wrong meter CT ratio skews every unit cost. On go-live, reconcile once against a hand reading; a pretty curve is not enough. If the stop signal is jumped off a random button, MES will treat a changeover as a fault—write the definition with process. If energy is disclosed or used for carbon, freeze the definition: a casual rename will not match historic shift reports.
