SimtoLink: A support ticket shows whether that SIM is online

DGA (dissolved gas analysis) is used to judge insulation-fault trends in transformers, such as overheating and discharge. An online monitor periodically samples components such as hydrogen, methane, and acetylene and sends them to the master station, shifting from oil sampling during an outage to continuous monitoring. Unattended substations, renewable-energy collection stations, and railway traction stations often deliver the data to a PMS or a provincial platform over a cellular IoT SIM.

Calibration, compensation, and time correlation

Data quality depends on device calibration, a sealed oil-sampling loop, and ambient-temperature compensation. On the communications side, timestamps must be accurate so analysis can be correlated with load and tap-changer operations.

Alert timeliness and shutdown policy

DGA data volume is relatively moderate, but alerts need to be timely. A private network or VPN is recommended so monitoring data is not tampered with. Firmware upgrades and remote parameter changes need dual approval and a rollback plan.

SimtoLink can provide industrial-grade SIMs with wide-temperature support and a remote shutdown policy, and full life-cycle traceability together with asset numbers. For multi-station batch projects, a data pool lowers cost.

Main-transformer tracking and oil-sample checks

Examples include capacity-increase assessment of aging main transformers, high-load summers, and follow-up after a nearby short-circuit shock. When comparing with laboratory oil-chromatography data, units and baselines must be unified.

Operations should close the loop on failed-device replacement and oil-sample spot checks, so the blind spot of normal online and abnormal offline is avoided.
