SimtoLink: Private APNs and public SIMs are billed apart

March 31, 2026 DaXi Technology

Private network access means a logically isolated dedicated data path over a carrier cellular network, so IoT devices can securely reach the enterprise intranet, a data center, or cloud-platform resources. Unlike public access, private network access uses RADIUS authentication, L2TP/IPSec tunnels, dedicated APNs, and similar techniques for network isolation, exclusive traffic, and a security architecture, meeting needs such as keeping enterprise data from leaving the country and compliance audits.

Dedicated access points and tunnels

Dedicated APN: an independent access point name is assigned to the enterprise, and the PGW/GGSN routes traffic to the enterprise gateway or leased line, isolating it from the public network. VPDN/L2TP tunnel: after the device dials, an L2TP tunnel is set up to the enterprise LNS, data travels through an encrypted tunnel, and the enterprise can run its own authentication (RADIUS). Fixed IP: a fixed private or public IP is assigned to the IoT SIM, which helps enterprise firewall and ACL policy and device management. QoS and bandwidth assurance: QoS and bandwidth management assign dedicated resources to the enterprise private network, protecting latency and throughput for critical services.

End-to-end security and compliance

Private network access needs access authentication, VPN encryption, and firewall policy for end-to-end security. An enterprise can require data to return over a leased line to its own computer room, meeting compliance such as data localization and classified protection. After an IoT device joins through an authentication protocol, it can reach only authorized intranet resources, which lowers exposure on the public network.

Industry use and private-network integration

Private network access is widely used in smart-manufacturing equipment monitoring, financial POS/ATM, smart-energy collection, connected-vehicle T-Box, power meter reading, medical devices, and other IoT applications with high requirements for security and stability. SimtoLink provides private-network APN, fixed IP, VPDN, and similar plans for enterprise customers, meeting differentiated access needs.

A core SimtoLink business is private-network access for enterprise customers, including dedicated APN configuration, fixed-IP assignment, VPDN tunnel integration, and RADIUS authentication integration. SimtoLink can recommend a suitable private-network architecture from the customer's industry, such as finance, energy, and manufacturing, and from compliance requirements, help complete carrier-side configuration and enterprise-gateway integration, and keep IoT devices reaching intranet resources securely and stably.
