SimtoLink: Site dust monitors upload particle readings on a schedule
A power-quality monitoring terminal (PQM/PQD) records indicators such as voltage swells and sags, harmonics, three-phase unbalance, and flicker. It is used by sensitive loads (chip plants, hospitals, and data centers) for claims and by the grid for remediation. The raw sample rate is high, and sending it all to the cloud is costly, so the terminal usually computes compliance statistics internally and then uploads them on a schedule and when an event is triggered. An IoT card provides the uplink at sites such as municipal street-light pad-mounted transformers and customer-side grid connection points.
Compliance statistics and upload
What is uploaded should follow the statistical windows and aggregation methods defined in national standards or IEC standards, so it matches regulatory spot checks.
Technical characteristics
Event-type sag waveforms can upload a segment only when a threshold is exceeded. Day-to-day uploads can be minute-level aggregates. Clock sync is essential; otherwise the record cannot be aligned with protection operations. The cellular link must handle TCP long-connection keepalive and DNS switching.
SimtoLink can configure a data pool and rate limits, and can identify abnormally long uploads. For key customers it can enable private-network direction to reduce the risk of data leakage.
Applications
Uses include harmonic-source remediation in industrial parks, clustered charging-pile connections, and grid-connection assessment of PV inverters. In an electricity-bill dispute, the monitoring data can serve as technical evidence.
Operations should regularly check instrument-transformer ratios and wiring. A communication drop should not silently lose events. Local circular buffering and a catch-up upload strategy are needed.
