SimtoLink: Door and motion sensors share a small data pool
Night minimum flow and leakage analysis relies on night minimum flow (MNF, Night Minimum Flow): the minimum instantaneous or hourly flow observed in a district metered area (DMA) during the low-demand period. Ideally, nighttime use by residential and most non-residential customers is close to zero, so the flow mainly reflects background network leakage, tank seepage, illegal hydrant use, or unregistered consumption.
Reporting and baseline comparison
IoT water meters, zone flow meters, and similar devices report hourly or finer curves over the cellular network. The platform can compare them with the historical baseline, remove seasonal and weather effects, and find new leaks or meter-boundary drift caused by a zone-boundary change earlier. An IoT card suits a primary path or a backup when a wired private network is missing, and it works with SCADA, DMA, and leakage-management platforms.
Technical characteristics
Sampling rate and battery life need to be balanced. A typical zone can report hourly aggregates. A leakage-sensitive zone can report more often, or more densely in the night window. Time sync, daylight saving time, and meter-replacement events should be tagged on the platform so a curve jump is not misread.
SimtoLink IoT cards give terminals wide-area cellular access and support combinations such as private network, public network, multiple APNs, and VPDN, which helps with unified authentication, allowlists, and traffic control. Capacity planning should combine heartbeat, reporting granularity, and plan tier, and should leave room for weak-network reconnect and log retention.
Applications
Uses include urban water-supply leakage control, zone metering, and water-saving assessment. The same method can also find hidden leakage in scaled rural water supply and in closed industrial-park networks. SimtoLink can provide connectivity for smart water meters and zone monitoring terminals.
When this is linked with active leak detection, pressure management, and secondary-supply pump-room monitoring, DMA IDs and data definitions should be unified. Keep connection online status separate from curve-quality pass/fail (missing data, freeze, reverse flow) so troubleshooting and KPI statistics stay clear.
