SimtoLink: Reefer trucks upload temperature on a set interval

May 18, 2025 DaXi Technology

SimtoLink’s cold-chain vehicle wireless RTU combines multi-channel temperature and humidity, door contacts, and GPS tracks. When the link drops in a tunnel or on a remote stretch, it caches data locally and retransmits automatically after the link returns. Wide-voltage vehicle power and vibration-resistant connectors are aimed at box trucks and refrigerated trucks.

Product position and reliability

On the platform, geofences and over-temperature link alarms can be configured to meet GSP traceability and audit requirements for pharmaceutical and food cold chain. SimtoLink provides examples of probe placement, probe calibration intervals, and driver operating procedures. On electrical safety and EMC, the product has passed the relevant CCC test items, and the ports have surge and reverse-polarity protection. The structure uses reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout to reduce ground-loop and common-mode interference. For outdoor or coastal sites, a version with a higher protection rating and an anti-corrosion coating can be selected.

On the software side, parameters can be imported in bulk, and threshold policies, event video, and waveform recording are supported depending on the model. Configuration and firmware can be updated over the air. SimtoLink recommends a three-step site acceptance: power-on self-test, communications time sync, and a sampling spot check. For metering or safety-related applications, it assists with third-party metrology-institute inspection and provides type-test documents.

Key hardware parameters

The following key hardware parameters are for a typical configuration of this model, for engineering selection and technical clauses in a tender. Different order codes in the same family may differ slightly; the nameplate and documents shipped with the unit prevail. Telemetry and telesignaling are 32/64, with a configurable point table. Telecontrol and teleregulation are 8/4, with check-back verification. The uplink is dual-SIM 4G, with primary and backup switching. The downlink is CAN, and it is isolated. Power uses a lithium backup, retained through a power loss. The clock supports GPS time sync, and the SOE is 1 ms. Protection is IP20 inside a cabinet, with Class III lightning protection. Safety complies with IEC 61010, and a type test is available. MTBF is greater than 50,000 hours at room temperature. Installation is on a pole, with an anti-theft lock.

Typical scenarios, installation, and maintenance

Pharmaceutical wholesale and vaccine delivery require the full temperature curve and door-open events to be stored so they cannot be denied, for unannounced inspections. Fresh-food e-commerce city delivery focuses on multi-stop unloading tracks and zoned temperature monitoring in the compartment, to reduce customer disputes. A catering central kitchen monitors the transport chain for raw materials and finished goods, and checks them against store receiving scans. A third-party cold-chain capacity platform aggregates data from many vehicles by waybill and opens a de-identified query interface to the cargo owner.

Before power-on, confirm the supply range and polarity, and use a multimeter to recheck bus voltage and breaker capacity when needed. Communications cable should be shielded twisted pair with single-end grounding, and should not be bundled for a long run with high-power cable. For the first go-live, complete two-way read and write and threshold-trigger checks with the platform in the lab, then move to the site. Outdoor installation should give priority to drainage and ventilation, and the sealing face should be inspected regularly. Lightning-protection grounding resistance should meet local rules. For long-term operation, do a sampling spot check and archive logs every 12 months. SimtoLink provides a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Bulk orders support sample review and in-plant inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents shipped with the unit.
