SimtoLink and China Unicom Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Build IoT Ecosystem
China Unicom provides standardized IoT SIM management and service provisioning. The SimtoLink IoT cloud platform wraps China Unicom interfaces and business rules into the same experience as a connection to the carrier system. Through the platform, an enterprise can manage activation, changes, suspension, and usage of Unicom IoT SIMs, and connect that to its own CRM, billing, or user self-service system.
Interfaces and card operations
If you also run China Mobile, China Telecom, or China Broadnet, you can combine the China Mobile connection, the China Telecom connection, and the China Broadnet connection on the platform. Unified multi-carrier management provides one view and cross-network policy. Specific interface fields, speed-limit policy, and the billing cycle follow the Unicom contract and the open documentation then in effect. The SimtoLink platform handles protocol adaptation, retry on errors, and observability, which shortens time to go live.
Unicom IoT SIM APIs are mapped to the platform's standard model, so the enterprise does less repeated development across systems. Common patterns such as card-profile query, status subscription, and asynchronous command callbacks are supported, and they follow rate limits on the carrier API gateway. Activation, suspension, resume, and plan change line up with card lifecycle management. Batch import and execution in batches are supported. Failed card numbers can be exported and retried. This stays consistent with carrier SIM-resource sync.
After usage such as data volume is synced to the platform, it can connect to data billing and reconciliation against the carrier bill, so finance can check month by month. Plan SKUs and Unicom rate codes should be mapped in advance. Two-way authentication, signatures, IP restrictions, and other Unicom requirements are supported. The platform records the call chain and masks key parameters in logs for internal control and audit, and sandbox calls and logs can be traced when troubleshooting.
A recommended path to go live
Qualification and accounts, sandbox joint testing, a small production batch, full cutover, then monitoring and reconciliation. Validate the full interface matrix in the sandbox first, then cut over to production in a lower-traffic window. After cutover, keep watching sync delay and the distribution of error codes, and connect the process to carrier fault tickets so issues can be escalated. For cases that need a fast response, confirm push versus polling with the platform team.
Typical uses and value
Shared bikes and smart-mobility operations: a mobility platform has a large number of IoT SIMs that need fine-grained data control. Through the Unicom connection, usage is monitored per card, and a device that stays offline past a threshold is suspended automatically, which lowers the cost of unused data. Financial POS and payment-terminal management: banks and payment institutions deploy POS terminals nationwide, choose Unicom IoT SIMs, and manage activation, status, and usage on the SimtoLink platform, which meets financial audit and real-name supervision. Card operations hosted for cross-province distributors: after an agent buys Unicom cards in one purchase, SimtoLink CMP allocates them by customer and manages them separately, so different end customers have isolated card resources and separate billing, and channel management is simpler.
After the China Unicom connection, an enterprise can run IoT SIMs on the Unicom network inside a single CMP, and use the APIs, reports, and white-label capabilities SimtoLink already provides. Multi-network customers spend less maintaining one system per network, and overall operating efficiency rises clearly. Unicom has an advantage in 4G LTE coverage and price, especially for IoT cases with steady data demand that are sensitive to price. Unified reconciliation on the SimtoLink platform can check differences between the Unicom bill and platform consumption in real time, and cut reconciliation work from several days to several hours.
