Who is the source of truth

Interfaces for a third-party product follow that party's current documentation and the version you bought. This article describes the acceptance standard Kandiantong uses at implementation.

The business fact lives in the system that produced it. The message is only a notice. The receiver uses the business document number for idempotency. The sender stores every response.

After the retry count is exceeded, the message enters a dead letter and a person handles it. It is not retried without limit. Key fields include the business document number, the event type, the time it happened, and how many times it has been retried.

Failure compensation

The dead-letter list is handled every day. The action is a replay or a void, and the operator is recorded. The alert goes to the person on duty. It is not only written to a log.

This is an acceptance item for a custom integration, not an optional optimization.

What to check before launch

For retry and idempotency after an integration failure, write the source of truth first. Retrying the same document must not turn it into two documents. Without interface documentation, a test environment, and one successful message, it does not enter the development schedule.

After the other side times out, look up duplicates by the business document number first. Confirm that a second document was not created, then decide whether to replay. A dead letter needs an owner. That day, someone must be able to say whether it is a replay or a void.
