Kandiantong: What a personal entity can enable for payment and categories is stated first

March 9, 2026 DaXi Technology

Someone who has only an ID card and no business license cannot build a mini program mall that sells goods and collects payment. WeChat divides mini program entities into types such as personal, company, and individual business. A personal entity cannot enter most business categories, and cannot open a WeChat Pay merchant account for collecting sales proceeds. Category and entity requirements follow the current notes on the WeChat Official Accounts Platform. What follows is about selection and scheduling, not legal advice. Kandiantong templates and custom work both attach to a mini program you have already verified. We check the category list to see whether listing is possible. We do not apply for a business license on your behalf, and we do not turn someone else's mini program into your checkout.

Start with the documents you can produce now

ID card only: you can register a personal-entity mini program for display, tools, or content. Once you want to list physical goods, or sell services online and collect payment, the category list usually requires a company or an individual business outright. Decorating the home page further does not help. Review stalls on the entity, not on whether the pictures look good.

You already have an individual-business license: you can register the mini program with the operator's information, complete verification, and apply for WeChat Pay. The settlement account, the business scope, and what you sell need to match. How an individual business submits payment materials is written in whether an individual business can enable WeChat Pay.

You already have a company business license: use a company entity. The verified mini program name, the WeChat Pay merchant short name, and the invoice title you will use later should use the same legal name wherever possible. If the seller the user sees and the party that actually collects payment are not the same entity, complaints and refunds turn into disputes. How the entity and the merchant account line up is written in the mini program entity and the collecting entity.

For a one-person operation that mainly issues ordinary invoices, many shops register an individual business first. Register a company when a brand owner requires company authorization, when you need to bid, or when you plan to hire. Which type the local market-regulation authority allows is decided by the service window or the online registration system, not by the mall system.

Where the mall should stop before the documents are ready

Use the license to fix the entity type. The trade name in that name later becomes the seller name users see. Do not submit the mini program for review under a personal nickname first.

Register the mini program under this entity and finish verification. WeChat mini program verification is currently charged by the year. The fee is paid to WeChat. It is not inside the Kandiantong monthly fee.

Apply for a WeChat Pay merchant account under the same entity. A personal balance and a personal collection code cannot stand in for a merchant account. Stored value in particular must not go into a personal WeChat account.

After the merchant account is enabled, connect products, categories, and payment to the mall. When a category needs extra licenses, such as food, alcohol, or medical devices, the business license itself is not enough. When the matching license expires, those goods cannot be sold.

Putting step 4 ahead of step 1 is the most common rework: the detail page, categories, and membership rules are all done, and the review comment says the entity type does not match. Products can be organized in a spreadsheet first, but do not publish them as a transaction page inside a personal-entity production mini program.

Borrowing a verified mini program gets stuck on the money

If a friend or an agency lends you their mini program and merchant account to collect payment, the proceeds go into their account. When a user asks for a refund, the money leaves their merchant account. When a user wants an invoice, the title is not yours either. WeChat does not allow a verified mini program to be handed to another operator for collection. Covering several unrelated projects with one license at the same time can also lead, during verification or a payment review, to a request to explain the relationship.

Kandiantong will not make borrowing an AppId a configuration item. The merchant account must be the one you submitted and that is already enabled. The system only stores payment parameters. It does not change the collecting entity.

An individual business or a company only shows that you are eligible to enter a business-category mini program. It does not mean every category can be selected. Food, alcohol, health food, and medical devices also have license or filing requirements in the WeChat categories. How categories and licenses are matched is covered under WeChat business categories. If what you sell is service sessions, class hours, or stored value, the entity answers who is collecting. Prepaid funds still have to be checked against local prepaid-card requirements. Changing the entity type does not skip that.

The seller name at the bottom of the mini program, on About us, and on the payment-complete page should be able to match the name on the license. Do not configure a production merchant account on a test account or a personal account.

Register an individual business or a company, and settle the trade name. At the same time, prepare the product spreadsheet, prices, and the category names you plan to use, and register the mini program after the license is issued. Do not pay a year of mall fees and then go back to obtain the license: the software can be turned on after entity verification passes. How the annual fee is counted apart from the verification fee and the processing fee is written in how much a mini program mall costs for a year.

If you already have a license and are not sure the category name and the license business scope describe the same thing, send the license business scope and three products you want to list to Contact us. If they match, open the plan. If they do not, change the category or add the license first, rather than turning the buy button on first.
